Get Big Golf Shots in Big Sky Country
Big Sky Country offers big golf value at many of its 100-plus golf courses. Take, for instance, the Arnold Palmer-originally designed track at the Big Sky Resort where the elevation at 6,500 feet above sea level, will have you playing Big Golf in the Big Sky. The season is short (June to September) but the rates are always reasonable (under $60) and the views are breathtaking. In Missoula, the newly opened (2006) Canyon River Golf Club is a 6,900-yard, par 72 course that weaves through Western Montana's tall pines. Keep in mind that Montana, like the other northern states, does have a definite winter season.

If you’re going to try to play Montana golf courses, make sure you’re dressed in warm layers that can be removed if necessary if you schedule a Montana tee time during the cold weather season. You don’t want bulky clothing that will impede your swing, so focus on tight fitting layers made of natural fibers. No matter how you dress for cold weather, you’ll be adding some bulk. Take a shorter backswing and one or two more clubs to compensate while playing Montana golf courses in colder weather.
