Make Michigan Your Golf Destination
Even with the harsh winters that hit the Wolverine State, there are still a multitude of Michigan golf courses to choose from as the Golf Association of Michigan boasts some 400 member courses. In Ann Arbor, home to the University of Michigan, the Huron Hills Golf Course is an affordable track for newbies. Up north in picturesque Acme, the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa has 54 holes of challenging golf, and includes both a Gary Player and a Jack Nicklaus-designed course. Nicklaus's "The Bear" is just that, but also a true treat to traipse.

Fortunately, the Golf Association of Michigan is one of many around the country to permit the use of distance finders on Michigan golf courses and in local tournaments. That means that, while the use of such devices is not permitted by the United States Golf Association, players in state association tournaments that allow their use can use one during their Michigan tee time. Distance finders speed up play by helping golfers see how far their next shot should go. If you can use a distance finder, do; it will keep you playing quickly and give you one less thing to worry about. If you are unsure about the use of distance finders inquire when you schedule your tee time.
